Hear from Isabel about Rupamari School

Hi, I’m Isabel and I believe that a quality education has the power to transform societies in a single generation; protect children from the protection they need from the hazards of poverty, labour exploitation and disease; and give them the knowledge, skills and confidence to reach their full potential.

Education is the key to living.

ISABEL, AGED 13

As a child myself, I know that going to school can be boring and we take it for granted. To us, we struggle for the motivation to go to school, we struggle to get up in the morning knowing that the day ahead is full of impossible maths questions and double biology classes. We take all of that for granted! From the age of five education is just a compulsory thing and we don’t realise just how lucky we actually are to receive it for free.

For the children of Rupamari School education has never before been an option, so not even their parents know how to read or write, and I can see how happy they are to learn having read their school reports that have been sent.

Currently, I am writing to a girl called Mousumi whom my Mum sponsors and who knows, with your help, maybe Mousumi and other children like her will become famous doctors or electricians. I hope that one day I can meet her!
